Edward, the Black Prince 1330-1376
The son and heir-apparent of King Edward 111, the Black Prince won his spurs at the battle of Crecy 1346 and ten years later won a great victory over the French at Poitiers. A founder Knight of the Garter he married Joan, the Fair Maid of Kent, in 1361. He died in his father's lifetime and was buried in Canterbury Cathedral.
